This week’s chosen jewelry is a jelly-fish like (in my personal opinion) necklace. Courtney Starrett is an inventive jewelry designer and this necklace is her personal design.

Her work has a very creative approach and kind of blurs the boundaries between art, craft, fashion, fibers, metalsmiting and jewelry design. Hope you’ve found it as interesting as I did.

These handcrafted porcelain and silver earrings by Anne Black are modeled with silkscreen prints in varying patterns and color. It’s downright inspirational. And it’s all reasonably priced, to boot.

Danish designer Anne Black is well-known for her contemporary ceramic bowls, plates, and vases, but we’re dazzled by the understated elegance of her porcelain jewelry collection.

Black embellishes white porcelain discs with colorful silkscreen patterns of feminized geometric shapes (like dots, circles, and lines).

The end result? A mod yet ethereal line that includes stately brooches, delicate earrings with gold or silver hoops, and necklaces that hang from matching silk thread.

Exploring new realms of jewelry designs, look what I’ve come across. Surprisingly these hand sewed jewelry and its baroque style impressed me quite a lot. With a strong orientation towards color schemes and themes from the Middle-East or Russia, Dori Csengeri reaches to our imagination and sense of color.

I have fallen in love with the celtic jewelry.  Surely, I’m not the only one captivated with this style. Celtic jewelry shares mysterious and the mystica power as an extension and a reminder of the traditions and rituals of the Celts, an ancient European people. Today, men and women of all ages wear Celtic jewelry not only for its beauty, but also for its symbolism and metaphysical connotations.

Not my case tough.  A person does not have to be Irish or Scottish or have any other Celtic connection in order to appreciate Celtic jewelry. I personaly enjoy wearing such jewelry just because it is simply beautiful! Celtic jewelry is generaly appreciated for its intricacy and esthetic appeal by many jewelry lovers and most of my friends actualy.  Numerous patterns of Celtic origin, such as the spiral and the cross, are incorporated by jewelers into their creations.

The Celtic spiral symbolizes eternity and is used abundantly in many Celtic jewelry items today. Just as popular is the Celtic cross, which pre-dates the Christian cross by about two centuries. The Celtic cross is thought to bring knowledge, understanding and the fortitude to deal with trials and adversities, as compared to the Christian cross, which is believed to protect the wearer from harm.

Claddagh rings and bracelets are two more examples of popular Celtic jewelry items that are replete with symbolism. Rings that have the Celtic knot design symbolize eternal and undying love; this is why they are exchanged by the bride and groom in present day wedding ceremonies-to signify their fidelity and never-ending commitment to each other. Such rings and bracelets are also given to friends as an indication of loyalty.

To all the superfluous summer tops, precious and vaporous blouses that just seem to float, my suggestion is accessorizing them with a simple long chain with a chic pendant. I have found just the perfect example for you – the necklaces from MARC collection by Marc Jacobs. Marc’s creations are much more than mere simple elegant necklaces, but at the same time watches. A “mushka” is a traditional cap worn by the russian Jewesse women through South and Little Russia even as far as Galicia. It not only an expensive piece of jewelry but is also a mark of beauty that is past trought generations from mother to daughter. Worn something like a big tiara, the “mushka” represensts also the wellfortune of the wearer.

This cap, with very unimportant modifications, has almost always the same form; the only difference is that, in the case of the wealthy, the pearls are larger, and sometimes a number of small pearls and precious stones are suspended here and there, set in the same way as earrings.
