As a guy, the world of jewelry is fairly daunting, particularly when came the time for me to start looking for an engagement ring for my (now) wife. There are so many "basic" facts about jewelry that I didn't know going into my search, such as types of precious metals (as you've mentioned), gem stones, cuts, colors, etc.. The site I reference here is key for anyone looking into fine jewelry within the platinum arena. Honestly, Engagement Guide was my saving grace in the middle of a period where I was unsure of what I should get for my wife based on what I liked and what I thought SHE would like. I ended up going with a traditional single hand-finished round diamond set in a delicate platinum band. Giving that ring to my wife was one of the most incredible moments of my life, especially after all the work I put into researching and scouting out the absolute perfect ring. The ring is a true commemoration of our love, and my dedication to her. I know this blog goes through a broader spectrum of jewelry knowledge, but for those of you looking towards getting an engagement ring in the future, I'd say the diamond is without question, and platinum is just pure sensibility. It's pure, luxurious, doesn't tarnish, **holds gem more securely than other precious metals out there... I could go on and on. You have one chance to impress the love of your life with something that encapsulates your dedication to each other. My platinum ring was the best decision I've ever made. Best of luck to all those out there who are searching. Cheers!
