The Pearl of Allah
It is also called Pearl of Lao Tzu and Pearl of Lao Tse and it is the largest pearl in the world. It was discovered in 1934 from the Island of Palawan in the Philippines. It measures 9.45 inches in diameter and weighs 6.4 kilograms (14.1 lb).
The pearl was produced by a giant clam, Tridacna gigas, and it is a non-nacreous pearl meaning ti doesn’t have the iridescence of true gem pearls, like oyster pearls or mussel pearls. The interior of the pearl does not contain a mother of pearl material, in fact it is porcellaneous.
The discovery of the Pearl of Allah has quite an impressive story. It is said that it was discovered by a young Muslim pearl diver. When seeing the pearl inside the clam he tried to retrieve it immediately. But his enthusiasm made him reckless and his hands were caught in the cockles. Unfortunately he met his end right there. The the giant pearl and the diver’s body were later on brought to the surface by his colleagues. The divers hands were released and at the same time the incredible discovery was made. They named it the Pearl of Allah because if its shape that resembles a turban or a man with a beard. The divers being Muslims were so impressed by the discovery and took it as a good omen. They believed it was the representation of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and thus gave it the name Pearl of Allah.
The value of the pearl reaches $40 million.

The pearl looks like a deformed bain…But is is also beautiful. Alot of history has been associated with that Pearl. If I get to be a Multi-$$$$. I will buy that pearl and return it to the Philippines:) It was brought out of the country as a gift for a good-will done to a Filipino Family. But the family of the person who was given it to, did not value the good-will. Time will tell when the Pearl of Allah will return home.
