So, what accessories are appropriate for a mom to share with her daughter? What makes moms look like they’re trying too hard?  Here’s what David Mamane recommends:

• Cocktail rings are the perfect accessory to share between mother and daughter. No matter what your age, a great statement cocktail ring will always turn heads and never go out of style.
• Just because mom is older doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to also be trendy and look fabulous.  Layering necklaces with a simple dress or shirt is an easy way to dress up an outfit without trying too hard.
• Stack diverse size bracelets and bagels as far up your arm as you can pull off. This is a great way to add some sparkle to a causal outfit. Interchange smaller and larger sizes, styles, and metals. Mixing metals is huge for fall, so don’t be afraid to mix your gold, silver, and copper pieces. Also, stackable bracelets are a great way to mix and match more expensive pieces with less expensive ones.
• Silly Bandz are a great way for kids to show off their sense of style and personalities. Even though silly bandz are now offered in adult shapes and sizes, leave these to your kids. Sorry mom.

Padma Lakshmi, the enchanting star of Top Chef, uncovers her Indian heritage in a splendid collection of fine jewelry, inspired by “seeds and pods, like cardamom, lentils, and cloves”.  The cuffs, the hand set, the hoops and other delicate pieces reminding somehow of Indian jewelry, but the finesse also sets them apart.
