Echo of the Dreamer

You may find this strange but spring may be less colored than the creations of Margaret Thurman and her team from the Echo of the Dreamer.

The designs are a burst of minerals and colored stones. The jewelry is inspired by the cultures of the world and the collection seems to hold all the treasures of the earth.

The variety of the stones and materials is amazing: sterling silver, amber, amethyst, rutilated quartz, carved bone, laguna agate, sugalite, citrine, carved agate, iolite, boulder opal, kyanite, obsidian, river rock, petrified sea shell, stalactite slice, spotted drusy, green moonstone, vintage buttons, glass, rhodocrosite, keshi pearls, pink tourmaline, mexican jelly opal, citrine, sunstone, mother-of-pearl, topaz, pearls, coral, geode, asian tile, onyx and many more that even haven’t crossed our mind.

You’ve heard of fool’s gold until now. Marcasite is the white form of fools gold and it was especially fashionable in Victorian times. Jewelers usually describe marcasite as a bronze color, its designs usually resembling an “Art Deco” period. You’ll generally see marcasite jewelry shining with a vintage estate look.

Marcasite is a mineral formed from iron sulfate. It is occasionally called white pyrite, but is not pyrite. To further confuse matters, most gems called marcasite, are in reality pyrite. True marcasite disintegrates quickly and does not keep well in gem form.
