At the beginning of the 20th century, pearls were as much a nuptial gem in the United States as diamonds are today.

The pearl has been a symbol of unblemished perfection ever since ancient times.

Pearls are the oldest known gems, and for centuries were considered the most valuable of all.

They make the ideal wedding jewelry because they symbolize purity and innocence.

The “wedding gem” should be part of the bridal experience because would help ensure marital bliss and prevent newlywed brides from crying.

No other gemstone can enhance your skin tone and accentuate your femininity with our exquisite handmade designed pieces of natural precious stones.

Pearls are timeless – they remain beautiful and add a touch of elegance. They are a wise investment because you can wear them on other occasions.

Transmitted from Mother to Daughter, Grandmothers to their granddaughters and Aunts to their nieces, pearls dating back generations and can symbolize a girl’s past, present and future. A woman’s pearls then become a symbol of her growth into adulthood as well as her new role with a family of her own.

Remember not to wear your pearls when you are applying cosmetics, hair spray or perfume. The chemicals and acids within these products will harm your pearl.

After the ceremony and the wedding party store your precious bridal pearls away from heat and sunlight sources. Use a jewellery cloth bag or pouch to store your pearls as these will protect them from scratches. Wrapping the pearls in a soft material is just as good. Once stored, take them out occasionally giving them exposure to humidity or moisture.

Remember: Often the father of the bride or the groom gives the gift of pearls. Many brides give their bridesmaids pearl necklaces, bracelets or earrings too.

Pearls are natural gems and for centuries were admired and considered a precious ornament. Pearl are of several types and varieties that vary in color, shape, size and value.

The most ideal pearls are normally very smooth and perfectly round. The most precious ones are the rarest to find. Because of its value and worth, cultivation of freshwater pearls has already been popularized by entrepreneurs.

Although mass produced versions are a lot cheaper than hard-to-find ones, freshwater pearls have found its way to the accessory market by offering a less-expensive version and knock-off of true ones. However, since the valued ones are very hard to source and are often very distinguishing in lustre, color and shape than produced pearls, there is still a great clamour and the demand for the genuine types among the elite segment of the society.

Among the new precious pearls that recently saw its way to the jewelry and pearl industry are the chocolate pearls.

Chocolate pearls are often described as exquisite and exotic pieces which are cultured to perfection. Most manufacturers source chocolate pearls from Tahiti and Hawaii, where some of the world’s largest cultivators of pearls can be found. These pearls are either sourced from fresh waters or the South Sea or saltwater. Hence, they are classified as freshwater or south sea.

Kathleen Dughi’s work brings complexity and craftsmanship to the high-end jewelry design world. Her work is highly appreciated in the US, but her background and experience comes also from Italy and Switzerland. She refined her style and skills so as to win several important prizes like the Spectrum Award and two Honorable Mentions from De Beers Diamonds International Competition.

About her work Kathleen confessed: “I design for the woman with a strong sense of individual style – the woman who has refined taste and seeks out jewelry that reflects that.” Even if she is regrettably lost, her team of designers continues to design and create wonderful pieces under her name, vision and formation.

Even if it is advisable to visit the jeweler in order to have or jewelry clean we can get almost the same result at home! We just need to follow some simple rules. For making the job easier, here are some tips on how to clean your tarnish jewelry and to maximize its beauty.

Cleaning Tips:

1. First things first! Always check your jewelry before cleaning to see if there are any loose or damaged gemstones. You would not want to cause any further damage, try to discover if there are any cracked or broken, discolored or pitting metal.

Pearl used in fine jewelry mountings

2. You must use a cotton cloth to gently wipe the pieces of jewelry. Ensure that you always use fresh cloths because the dirt left from previous usage will leave scrapes and pits on the piece of jewelry you want to clean and polish.

Rub jewelry with soft cloth

3. If you want to use commercial cleaning products from jewelry stores you always have to remember to read the instructions before you first attempt to clean. Otherwise use reachable tools that can be found in your own bathroom (toothbrush, bowl of water, soap and towels)

Jewelry Cleaning at home
