Hand of God
Hand of God, or Hamsa as it is also called, is considered one of the most popular Jewish motifs. This symbol is also believed to have Islamic origins. Hamsa is considered to protect from evil eye and offers a protecting hand to the wearer. The five fingers are linked to the five books of Torah.
Star of David
Represent an old symbol used in Israel, even if it became associated with Judaism in more recent times. It depicts a six pointed star that is the conjoining of two triangles. They were put outside synagogues in order to signalize that it is a Jewish place of prayer. It also appears on the flag of Israel and it is considered the official symbol of Jews. King David used this symbol as his signature. It is considered to protect the wearer from all directions of the star: up, down, east, south, west, north and represents a good omen (of God). Chai
It is a symbol formed from two Hebrew letters Chet and Yod put together. The word Chai has a big significance in Judaism. It means “life”, “living”, “enthusiasm”, “living God”. According to mystical numerological speculations it represents the number 18, a number of great importance also, as it is the name of a big and extremely significant prayer.
Menorah
It appears in the Torah and it depicts a seven arms candelabrum. It is considered the symbol of the Israeli nation and their mission to be “a light unto the nations.” (Isaiah 42:6). The menorah is used for burning candles but originally it was used for burning olive oil.
